TTL (time to live) - The number of seconds a domain name is cached locally before expiration and return to authoritative name servers for updated information.This is the default TTL if the domain does not specify a TTL.

While hosting your own Mail Server can be challenging and requires some know-how, it does demonstrate ones skill in understanding all the moving components that is needed to get one up and running.
